SITE HISTORY

The Sierra Ancha Wilderness automatic photographic monitoring system was installed approximately fourteen miles south of the Pleasant Valley Ranger District Office on State Route 288, in February 1985.  The system was mounted at the edge of a small cliff 300 to 400 yards east of Route 288 at Board Tree Saddle.  The camera viewed Mount Turnbull, 118.5 kilometers to the southeast, until September 1993.

Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily from 1985 through 1993.  Over 8,000 35mm color slides of the Mount Turnbull vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
